Silver Stetsons
Baby Cha - Kate Sala - Baby Confess by Leland Martin - a lovely little dance with music to match, well recieved by all classes, very easy to teach, students found a little problem with the step point and the turns at the end, but once mastered, loved it. Lots of clubs are doing this.
Body To Body - Fracien Sttrop - Body To Body by XYP - Intermediate dance with a difference! There are 3 restarts and tags but they become very easily recognisable once the steps have been mastered!! Found the music very catchy, but not everyone did the first time it was taught. Struggled on the first teach, but most people liked it. Found it a little difficult to call the first turn as there is not enough time to say "sweep, half sailor turn over left shoulder" in one count!!! Other wise really like this one, think it will be done out and about.
One More Midnight - Maggie Gallagher - One More Midnight by Hal Ketchum - Faster speed dance that has repeat sections, so not so much to learn. most people liked this one, not difficult to teach. Would think that high beginners was a better description, but Intermediates should like it too. Love the music, the whole album is nice.
Alone Together - Peter Metelnick & Alison Biggs - I Think We're Alone Now by Girls Aloud - Tricky little one this, I found it difficult to get my head round and was not sure if I liked it but it is growing on me. Found the restarts difficult to deal with until we realised that the album track is the wrong piece of music and if it is danced to this there has to be two restarts and not one like it's supposed to have!!!
Behind The Clouds - Rafel Corbi - Behind The Clouds by Brad Paisley - What a lovely dance to a cracking track, sing-a-long feelgood dance.
What's Your Name - Michael Barr - Why Me by Delbert McClinton - This has been about for years, but the laughter that this caused when I retaught it at the classes was worth everything. We had forgotten wht a nice dance it is to a cracking country track. Teachers beware, the cross backsides might get you in the end!!
Alive & Kicking - Maggie Gallagher - That Don'e Impress Me Much by Shania Twain - A real blast from the pastwhich I taught in desperation because of the lack of country in the Linedamcer charts. I know I made the right decision because it was a hit at all the classes. Only major problem there seemed to be was remembering to do a coaster step instead of a back rock on the second lot of Kick Ball Steps. Apart from that it was a hit.
Would You Go With Me - Yvonne Anderson - Would You Go With Me by Josh Turner. A nice beaty track, quicker than expected. Had a problem remembering how it starts when dancing but really like this one. Tag catches people out as it is slower than expected
River Of Dreams - Blast from the past - Charlotte Skeeters - Same name by Billy Joel or Westlife. When I said I was reteaching it loads were pleased but no-one could remember it and still could not until they did it to the music, then it all came flooding back!!!! A nice easy teach even with the tags and restart, forgot about leaving count 9 out on wall 5, the step sheet does not make that clear.
Double Dee
Ami Oh - Beginner dance with a different feel - Music is Ami Oh by African Connection. Easy teach but fast enough to keep most interested. My lot loved this one from the first time I demo’d it.
Underneath the Arches - Talk about retro – Max Bygraves and Line Dancing ?? An easy teach with a pleasant tempo. The only difficult thing is not singing along with it instead of calling the steps. This is THE favourite dance with my class at the moment.
Hungry Eyes - Feel the Magic is a bit beyond my Beg / Imp class at the moment, so this fits the bill as an alternative. Great music and easy steps make it a great teach.
Bop the B - A Billy Swan track with a great beat. Plenty of participation with the claps, (nice to know they are with you), and change of tempo to keep them interested. Not too long and finishes on the front wall.
Down on the Corner - Old one this, but great track. Nothing without the pointing and counting – Since teaching this it has been heavily requested at socials.
Someone aka The Daffodil Dance - written to support The Marie Curie Cancer Care appeal. Tricky teach with the changes of pace and tag seeming too slow, but a very nice track by Charlie Landsborough. My lot love this one.
